If there is an absence that involves an educational enhancement opportunity, the
student's parents/guardians may turn in an EHO (Educational Enhancement
Opportunity).
Every student in Kentucky is granted up to ten (10) EHO days.
An EHO shows in the student's school record as an EHO day, instead of a school
absence.
By board policy, all tardies (check-ins and check-outs) and absences will require a
written excuse and/or documentation to be recorded as excused. This can be a
parent note, Dr. excuse, or EHO, etc. However, please note that any/all parent
notes for a tardy or absence count as one of the (5) five allowed parent notes per
school year. When exceeding the limit of five parent notes, all further parent
note excuses are recorded automatically as "unexcused" in Infinite Campus (IC),
our attendance program.
EHO's are any days/times that students are absent from school but participating
in an educational experience. An EHO day does not count time against the
student for the absence. EHO forms are available from your child's teacher or the
main office. Examples of EHO's are: Doctor Visits that provide the student with
an opportunity for career exploration, trips involving educational experiences,
activities that include spelling, math, reading and/or activities related to
vocational/practical living content. To have an absence marked as an EHO, the
parent/guardian needs to complete and sign an EHO application form for the
absence. If you have any questions or need assistance completing an EHO, please
contact Tammy Fields or Dawn Justice.
